The Beginning of Brigade Board Home Siding

The beginning of Brigade Board home siding starts with the history of two companies or corporations: Georgia Foam, Mid-Atlantic Foam and Western Wood Products.

In 1969, Georgia Foam, Inc. opened its doors in Gainesville, Ga. to manufacture Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) to support north Georgia’s growing need for foam used in flotation devices and poultry house insulation. Since then, Georgia Foam has experienced significant growth, and today the company is a leading manufacturer and supplier of EPS products and accessories for diverse domestic and international applications.

As Georgia Foam’s product offerings expanded, so did the company’s customer base. In 1980, the company expanded its operation with the opening of Mid-Atlantic Foam in Fredericksburg, Virginia, created to support similar needs for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States. Since then, the growth has continued for Mid-Atlantic Foam, prompting a 39,000 square foot building expansion, completed in June 2007.

Georgia Foam and Mid-Atlantic Foam’s focus has been the manufacturing and distribution of products that are utilized by construction professionals. The company’s products have supported the commercial roofing market and Exterior Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS) for decades. In the 1990s, to meet the evolving needs of the construction industry, the company established itself as an innovative leader in supplying Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) to both the commercial and residential markets.

Today, Brigade Board Insulated Siding System has become Georgia Foam’s flagship of innovation. Brigade Board brings together quality insulation from Georgia Foam and vinyl siding from Vytec using a Precision Shift technology. This technology was invented by a team of industry experts at Georgia Foam. The patent-pending mechanical fastening system allows the vinyl and insulation to function independently so it can expand and contract with fluctuating ambient temperatures, helping to keep the siding smooth and straight for years. Also, Brigade Board home siding increases the R-value to the exterior wall while allowing a solid surface to protect against a premature failure of the vinyl.

Without a doubt, inventing, patenting, and manufacturing a new product is a giant step, but just the first of many. Since marketing, sales, and customer service are vital to a product’s success, Georgia Foam has partnered with Western Wood Products, who will serve as the master distributor of the Brigade Board Insulation Siding System.

Western Wood Products has 20 years of successful experience marketing and distributing building materials. The company began with cedar siding in 1984 and has since successfully added lumber, plywood, millwork, columns, composite decking, and railing systems to its product menu. The relationships established between Western Wood Products and their building materials supply chain will be an asset in Brigade Board’s product manufacturing and distribution.

Georgia Foam, Mid-Atlantic Foam, and Western Wood Products have consistently strived to offer quality, competitively-priced products that are supported by exceptional service aimed at building long-term customer relationships. The success of this goal is evident in all three company’s expanding product offerings and customer base.
